Happy new year, friends! I can't believe it's already halfway through January. Where does the time go, exactly? It was around this time two years ago that I took my first calligraphy class. I've grown a lot over the last two years, and learned many new things about the art of calligraphy. And I love it more and more as time goes.
As the new year rolled around, I saw quite a few of my artsy crushes (those people whose work I deeply admire and aspire toward) post their "word of the year," which got me thinking a lot about what mine would be. It didn't take me long to settle on "stretch." I want to continue to stretch myself creatively and personally this year, and much of that comes from what I hope to achieve with this little business here. I'm not ready to share all of my goals and plans just yet, but what I can say is that this little adventure that previously felt like a nice hobby (that also helped me financially), feels more like a viable actual career. And it's where my heart is really tugging me.
And although I'm so very impatient for what's to come, rather than push myself this year, I'm going to stretch. No one is really in control when they're pushed, but stretching is much more gradual, and although maybe a bit uncomfortable, ultimately good. Each custom order that I did in 2015 stretched me creatively, opening my eyes to so many possibilities with Ellie and Ace.
Thank you so much to everyone who has been part of this journey so far. I can't wait to see what 2016 has in store.
