I recently had the pleasure of teaching a private class for a group of girlfriends, and I have to say that it was just S O M U C H F U N! This class was scheduled on a Sunday morning - one of the first semi-fall-ish mornings we've had here in Dallas. So while the morning light filtered through the studio perfectly, we burned a pumpkin candle, sipped mimosas, and got down to business having fun with calligraphy. Check it out!
The studio is calming + creatively inspiring.

First step, get comfortable with the holder, nib + ink with practice strokes.
Then we start working on our alphabet with grids + tracing paper + washi tape.
This is Ashley, the group hostess. She gathered college friends, church friends, and family members for this private class.
Yes, even lefties can practice calligraphy. It's a little tricky, but it can definitely be done.
Ellen was actually quite good!
I love connecting with new people in classes and sharing my love of calligraphy.
Before the end of class, we practice connecting letters together by writing our names.

I'm so grateful to Savannah for taking these photos. It's worth nothing that my Mom loved them so much, she's mentally penciled Savannah in as my future wedding photographer...to a man that I can only assume I have yet to meet. But that's just details. And possibly too much information.
